If you will be around Blue Springs from Friday, September 4, through Monday, September 7, 2026, you will have plenty to choose from. There are big festivals, baseball games, live music, and a few easy ways to stay close to home.

You do not have to drive into Kansas City to start the weekend. Downtown Blue Springs has live music scheduled at East Forty Brewing on both Friday and Saturday evenings. Crooked Path Revival is set to play Friday at 7 p.m., followed by Gabe Nickel and Jackson Kershner on Saturday at 7 p.m.
Saturday also brings Market on Main to the city lot at 107 SW Main Street. It is a relaxed place to browse local vendors and then grab breakfast or lunch at one of the downtown restaurants. This is probably the easiest option on the list if you want to get out for a bit without committing your whole day.
Spend the Final Weekend of Summer at the Water

Labor Day weekend is your last chance of the season to enjoy the outdoor side of Blue Surf Bay Waterpark. The outdoor facility is scheduled to be open Friday from 4 to 7 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m., and Monday from noon to 7 p.m. The city notes that some features may be limited depending on staffing and attendance.
For a more laid-back lake day, Blue Springs Lake Beach is scheduled to remain open through Labor Day, with holiday and weekend hours of 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Pack the sunscreen and check the weather before leaving, since the beach may close for storms or cooler temperatures.
SantaCaliGon Days in Independence

This one can get busy. If you want time to look through the booths with a smaller crowd, going earlier may be your best bet.
Hummingbird Festival at George Owens Nature Park

If crowds and carnival rides are not your thing, Independence has a quieter option too. The Hummingbird Festival continues at George Owens Nature Park on Friday beginning at 10 a.m. and Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. This family-friendly nature event is a good fit for anyone who enjoys birds, wildlife, or a slower morning outdoors.
Kansas City Irish Fest at Crown Center

Labor Day Weekend Baseball at The K

The Kansas City Royals will be home all weekend. They play the Toronto Blue Jays Friday at 7:10 p.m., Saturday at 6:10 p.m., and Sunday at 1:10 p.m. On Labor Day, the Royals begin a new series against the Arizona Diamondbacks at 1:10 p.m.
